AIS Decontamination Incentive
- The Stearns County AIS Committee and Clearwater Lake Property Owners Association will coordinate an Aquatic Invasive Species prevention incentive with Hitching Post for Memorial Day weekend 2019. The goal is to increase the number of boaters who have their boat professionally decontaminated in order to help stop the spread of damaging invasive species.
- The Stearns County Decontamination equipment will be at the DNR access site on Clearwater Lake from May 24th through May 27th from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM each of those days.
- On the five days of the pilot, inspectors at both Bob’s Bay and Blackpool landings will hand out an educational Clean, Drain, Dispose brochure, along with a coupon for “buy one drink and get a second of equal value free” at the Hitching Post. Inspectors will offer a second coupon for a “free cheeseburger basket” at the Hitching Post to boaters who agree to get a decontamination either before or after boating. As Stearns County only has one decontamination unit, all decontaminations will take place at Bob’s Bay.
- Coupons will be valid through June 30th.
